If you read the expalnation of DBT as it relates to our cable forum, I think you'll get some idea. The primary problem with DBT results is that the tests are all too often flawed and don't include sufficent user training or measurement results to support a potential theory going into the test. Without trained listeners and training along with an experienced tester, you have little more than parlor tricks.The bottomline in my mind is that DBT works, but that most popularly sited tests are flawed. Some differences are subtle and typically will result in null tests, others aren't. I've done some single blind tests with friends and seen exactly those results. Some things are obvious and result in close to 100% recognition, others are random. But even in those random results, people might develop a preference in long term listening for one over another due to those subtle differences. And with enough training, those random results could become consistent. All too often the problem with DBTs is the source material doesn't exercise the subtle differences.
