CDs are 16 bit 44.1kHz. FLAC has already compressed that data to the smallest size without throwing away musical data by using lossless compression. To go smaller you have to use lossey compression that WILL remove musical information depending on what compression ratio you choose. MP3 at 320kbps is pretty good and may reduce file size by 50%. dBpoweramp is a good tool for this but note that the more you compress the files the longer the conversion will take because there is more processing to do.
