My FLAC archive has a few thousand albums, many of them SACD and DVD-A rips and hi-res downloads, and it's only ~1.5TB. I can buy a 2TB desktop drive for about $80, or a 4TB model for about $150. Space is cheap. In this day and age, you ought to be able to store everything in WAV or AIFF!
