Let me clarify. I do not yet have a multi-channel system. Although I am most of the way there toward putting one together. I have been doing some heavy auditions of multi-channel (the good, bad, and the ugly) wherever and whenever I can the last two years. Between my auditions and my regular attendance at live music (mostly acoustical)I have been drawing my conclusions.I don't disagree with you with respect to the room, the role that it plays, and the convincing realism that two channel is capable of. My two channel system is damn good. Nevertheless, I know that sound production in the home can be improved upon. I also believe that orchestral music may lend itself to surround a bit more than jazz. Although, I have heard several surround demonstrations of jazz, mostly Telarc, which I believe surpass their two channel counterparts.
