Not to mention the ground Clement has broken as a black American in the notoriously "good old boy" field of Hi- Fi. Without commenting on the quality or integrity of his publication, he is to be commended for this.
I can't say he is being held to a double standard, or a higher standard: a hi fi editor of any color will have to go a long way towards Hell to feel the sort of heat JA regularly is exposed to. But such a tough business cannot help but be a bit tougher for Perry. And, again without excusing his editorial lapses, and with the full realization that no one here has added a racial component to their criticism of ST ( though I haven't a doubt that he deals with it daily, in private): Is what we read in ST any more ridiculous or any more of a "joke" than we read in more established publications?
