Because having just been experimenting a couple days with mine I'm finding similar sort of criticism with it as what you and HumanMedia have pointed out about these ground tweaks.
Upon first listen I was impressed by the apparent increase in power and dynamism. All in all though, I've found the presentation becomes somewhat unnaturally bloated - like the effect of certain filtering and shielding that I've come across, which I hate. More but less articulate bass, a more pronounced midrange where the individual instruments seem a little smeared and highs that seem smoother but actually have ended up losing some texture. Without it the presentation is a little brighter but preferred over the 'fake' smoothness the ioniser provides.
At the moment it's out but further testing will ensue.
