I spent many years in the aerospace indusry, and it was common practice on critical equipment to tie equipment to a negative voltage source to keep the equipment noise as low as posible.
Ground is not a "negative voltage source."
Nor is connecting to the negative terminal of a battery a "negative voltage source." The only relevance of the negative terminal of a battery is to the battery's positive terminal. Beyond that, it is nothing. Just a piece of metal that's no more relevant to a circuit than the tip of your nose.
There are no earth grounds in space, by hooking up to a negative voltage the noise floor is lowered for the equipment.
A literal earth ground (i.e. a rod stuck in the dirt) has absolutely no relevance at all to an audio system. It has as much relevance as the negative terminal of a battery or the tip of your nose.
"Ground" in this context is simply a singular reference point in a circuit. It's unfortunate that the terms "ground" and "earth" came to be used in this context because it has absolutely nothing to do with the ground or the earth.
Something about this hobby are realy rocket science.
Not in this case.
In this case it's just nonsense based on fantasy borne out of ignorance.
