is very concerning. There is one wild card in this. The last time we saw this kind of whitewashing was in 1930s Germany. However, Germany was a relatively homogenous society, most folks sharing the same cultural values and -- to a frightening degree, and in retrospect -- apparantly being very vulnerable to being persuaded by distorted views, and incapable (too lazy and/or too afraid) to seek the truth. Now, however, the West is a complete hodge-podge of cultures and priorities, and it is unclear (ultimately) where the line is regarding "the passive masses". For now, at least, the population is absorbing things. For the sake of sprawl management (!:-), let me just say that I think the only "theme" we may be concerned with right here, right now is that apparantly most of them don't value Classical music so much!:-)
