Innovation in classical music is needed for it's survival, but the fullness of feeling that once drove classical music appears to be depressed - at least temporarily. Even so, if the only problem facing classical music was that it looks to be near death, it's chances of being resuscitated might be OK. Since the dying oldster is also viewed with a certain amount of resentment, it's possible that the new batch of paramedics on the scene may accidently shirk their duties. The police need to keep an eye on for a while yet. Once he's dead, a handy photo or recording of the deceased is not the same as having the guy around, alive, and kicking for awhile - albeit in a mentally and physically diminished capacity. Sometimes we must help old things to "go through the motions" of living for a time, with or without perceived fullness of life, for the chance that the old spirit will regain it's momentum in time. Even when we feel depressed, going through the motions of our former state for awhile could ensure that we're ready again if things are'nt truly finished, because once stiffness of joints sets in it is hard to dance along with a recovered will. Now, that would be bad news for innovation.
