"perfect sound forever" is a marketing term

and that marketing is all that most non-technical people would read and were led to believe. Given that the average consumer had something like a BSR Quanta ( or something worse ) and heavily soiled / mistreated records to compare digital to analogue back then, they had no reason to believe that it wasn't true. Many today still think that their first generation CD players sound the same as any modern offerings as you can't improve upon perfection. After all, digital is digital is digital, right? Sean
