The HD26 sub connector on the Lynx not only does not have the correct termination impedance, but there is substantial cross talk as well. The nest of tracks they have ahead of the connector pins to enable shorting plugs to be used adds to this mess.
This is why my aes 16 does not sound at all transparent compared to my RME9632. It doesn't sound bad after I have made my own cables and added capacitance to the 12V supply, but is is just not up there. I plan a major mod when I have the energy.
