In the analogy, George is a DAC. Yes, they sound different. That has nothing whatsoever to do with Ringo (or Amarra). :-)

If George in step 3 were a DAC that depended on the timing of the delivery of the note in step 2, things would be a lot different. George would be playing the note (and subsequent notes) based on the timing of their arrival from Ringo in step 2. This would mean that Ringo's job (to keep time for George) was extremely important, and introduces all kinds of variables into the equation (is Ringo drunk? Can Ringo keep good time? Is he influenced by when John places the note on the table in step 1? Is there an Empirical Audio metronome w/ SuperClock 4 in the room? And on and on, as the jitter discussions go here). But, luckily, George is an async DAC, so he could literally care less about when Ringo is delivering the notes.

By the way, rumor has it that Paul is dead.
