RE: substantive terminological issue



I think it would be unwise to categorize indeterminate (with regard to cause) differences in sound with clock-based jitter (i.e. Gordon's definition), although that seems to be the path of least resistance, perhaps due primarily to lack of understanding as to what might be the cause of these differences (other than jitter).

IOW, how do we call it something other than jitter, when we don't yet know what it is?
