You are plain wrong!
The experiment you mentionned was done by Bruce Edgar but the comparison was not done between a truncated exponential and a conical horn as you erroneously wrote but between a truncated exponential and a tractrix horn. The voice coming through the Tractrix horn (the profile of which is quasi similar to a Le Cléac'h horn along 90% of the length) was much more natural and uncolored than with the truncated expo.
