getting over to the Econo-wave thread (one the longest I've ever seen) and check out the measurments made with the JBL CD waveguides there. There are some important considerations outside of the beam width and height or the waveguide itself. I'd suggest you take a look at the links on the first page to get a quick overview.
Its a long thread, for sure, but seeing the measurments taken, the waveguide/driver interactions and then the discussions of how the DIY'ers compensate with crossover designs should help bring you up the learning curve. There are some _very_ good comments by engineers of current-product horns there that help to confirm what these guys are up to.
