New high resolution SACD releases, players and technology.

I think most of us are aware of ....

the claimed differences between XRCD, XRCD2, XRCD24. It's just that many of us are not convinced that there is a big difference between them.

I really like the XRCD and XRCD2 titles that I own; the careful mastering really shines through. But in the final analysis despite whatever JVC is calling it (XRCD, XRCD2, XRDC24, XRCD3000, whatever) they are really all the same thing--redbook CDs. Nice redbook CDs, carefully mastered redbook CDs, yes, but still redbook CDs.

Most here are convinced that SACD as a format offers more resolution than redbook CD, though there are clearly some dissenters. Of course good mastering is essential to good sound regardless of format, and I would love to hear JVC apply their careful mastering process to the SACD format (XR-SA-CD, perhaps), and would gladly pay $25 for good titles. I’m not holding my breath for that to happen though.
