New high resolution SACD releases, players and technology.

thats silly ..

>>Unlike some people here that live in a time warp, my tastes extend to music and performances of today. Pretty well most of the recordings I buy aren't available on vinyl anyway.<<

So ... your referal that those of us who luv older music are living in the past is silly considering that most of SACD inventory are reissues of old recordings long available in vinyl.

>>You have to wonder how secure some people are in their chosen format when apparently need to recruit others for reassurance.<<

Maybe it more of an educational process for those without eperience - and therefore you have to wonder how people - like myself - who have had ALL (minus DVD-A) formats represented in a system for a prolonged period of time come to there conclusions.

Its not a matter of 'reassurance' - its a matter of reality based on direct comparisons without bias. Many of us vinyl heads are not saying that SACD is not a good musical format, it is , just that we are disappointed that it did not meet certain expectations esp since we based those expectations on reading and hearing the 'hype' that these formats have generated - mostly as compared to other formats.

Most of that 'hype' was proven to be unfounded in a direct comparison ... and trust me ... many vinyl based audiophiles would have jumped ship if the format offered real sonic advantages and worthwhile inventory.
