RE: Isn't the real question how magazines could make their reviews more helpful to potential buyers?

If it's the first two, it's far better to make this public than try to force them to change their findings to fit the measurements.

I think in essence this approach is likely to make me trust the review.

Keeping the subjective assesment as well as objective measurements seperate till the actual review is put on paper is the best way for component review in my opinion.
