Didn't the early Telarcs have a frequency change in the digital domain? If so, the master used for the CD was a 2nd generation master.

Good question. Maybe second gen, but not "many times". I'm intrigued by Telarc's use of the term "Soundstream" version of the early Firebird available in SACD. That suggests to me they were able to maintain the original resolution.

--- I don't know about Telarc, but with DMP, when creating the DSD master, they merely took the analog output data from the original recorder and transfered that to DSD, with some pretty fine results. Is this how Telarc does it? So as I have questioned before, could it be that the data number crunching /conversion had somehow affected the sonics? Or another possibility is that 50 Khz is at the point where the granularity of the sampling frequency is at or near the fooling point of human hearing. Responses here seem to say otherwise.
