Looking for input from folks who use “Tube Traps”, or a similar product that combines bass absorption and diffusion or reflection. Or traps that use just absorption by itself.I plan on building some new subs to go with my MMGs, but first want to add some bass traps in the room, and see where I stand bass output wise. Other room treatments will follow later.
The Maggies are placed in the dedicated room for optimum performance, "Cardas" style, but pulled further apart to get an equal distance between tweets and chair. The results are that the rear wave partially fires into the corners. Is it better to have absorption, reflection or diffusion at these corners, in regards to the rear wave (not the bass modes)?
I have some 2’ x 7’x 6” diy rectangular panels already built, using Owens Corning 703 rigid insulation, but haven’t finished them yet. As is, they would be totally absorbent, and humongous.
So my options are, use the above as is, or build some “super chunks” with a smaller width. Or use the same insulation to build round traps, with partial reflection, or, my favorite idea at the moment, 1/4 round pieces that fit in the corners, but have a quarter round front face (picture a slice of pie).
Or I guess I could add some sort of diffusion panel on top of the ones I have now, but then they would really stick out in the room.
