Update:
When googling Romy the Cat, a new website came up among the other search results.
romythecat.com
Under the listing it states:
"Romy the Cat's GoodSoundClub.com. The site is temporarily down. I am moving to a new data center."
Doesn't he have nine lives?
his 10th try?

Wouldn't his 9th life be his last? He only gets 9 tries.
really. A cat has 9 lives. After nine, it is a toss up and same as dogs and the rest of the animals. So it isn't 8 and 1 more and you are gone, it is 9 lives. 9 plus 1 is 10.So, if he used all 9, and that is what you postulate, then yes, maybe he tried number 10.

But that was back in the days when AA was more about talking audio than talking about audiophiles. It's ok with me this place is tiding me over until my rocking chair gets here.
I miss the good old days.

things have changed though here, like ultra hi-end which few can afford. Trickle down? Don't think so money wise. Nowadays it's survival for many
But ultra high end is bullshit. For the first time in the he history of audio the state of the art is not fiscally out of reach for many audiophiles. It's strange though that you can get a complete system that will give you state of the art sound and for the same money you can buy two power cords.
like ultra hi-end which few can afford. Trickle down? Don't think so money wise.
Way too much whining and griping around here. Chill!
Listening to music soothes the soul.
whining and griping? Ultra hi-end? There was a time not long ago when it was just Hi-End and before that Hi-Fi. I'm listening RIGHT NOW to my antiquated Quads with a new acquisition, a Yamaha integrated for $250, an amp with the new Galium Nitride transistors. Broken in now and it's a toss up between this and a Quad current dumping amp. Both perspectives are interesting, a soundfield WAY beyond wide and the other wide and DEEP.
Most will admit that achieving a very nice reproduction won't require spending many thousands. I like listening to music NOT SO MUCH equipment, the quest that alludes many.

In contrast to Jay's (Audio Lab) YouTube channel, Romy's videos to me have been painfully boring..........
He hasn't posted much recently, and nothing in the past three months........
the only thing I remember about him beside his abrasiveness was his love of Celestion copper tweeters
But that was ten years ago, the last time I cared about what he had to say.
Clearly English is not his first language but WTF?
He spends the first 5 minutes on a monologue about the monologue he is about to do then he spent the next 5 minutes talking about how difficult it is to talk about sound. It was certainly difficult for him. I had to stop watching.
What I did watch was pretty much 10 minutes of word salads mixed in with some sounds that I suspect started as words in his head but didn't quite survive the journey to his mouth.
Jay is much more entertaining and ironically far far more intelligible.
does he remind you of Felonius Gru?

The guy was a nut case - not only a nut case, but a self righteous nut case who (as noted below) threatened and belittled other inmates. I never had too many interactions with him, but the ones I had were inconsequential. Still, I was glad to see him get booted (although I didn't have anything to do with it).
This is well known. It was in The NY Times. . . not really.
For the 1st time, yesterday, I tried his website, since he was booted from the Asylum. And you are correct sir, it isn't working!

He has not gone down a path yet worthy of an official ban.
He thrives on argument, multiple decades, multiple websites
The only effective counter I can suggest is silence. Dont engage, dont post, dont talk about he or his offerings.
Hard to do but if you really want him to not post , then a complete freeze out.
I often try but fail time to time.

I appreciate your effort in writing an almost grammatically correct sentence. Good job. Silence sounds like an excellent idea, by the way.

We're the girls from Norfolk, we don't drink, we don't smoke, Norfolk, Norfolk!
AA can't ban people from AA for just being stupid. That would wipe out the population like the plague. Not just you know who.
But should people be banned for being obnoxious, rude and insulting? Yeah...at a certain point when it becomes intrusive yes. Particularly when it becomes so pervasive that it could rightfully be called forum stalking.
Watch You know who prove my point with this very post.

Romy suggested that an inmate's children should be neutered in order to prevent the inmate's genes to continue to pollute the planet.

Richard Bassnut Greene. His ability to annoy subjectivists was such that they had him banned. Not AA's finest hour, but certainly one of its most entertaining. ~:)
My favorite banned person was Wellfed, the subject of the Amazing Randi Million Dollar Challenge for the Intelligent Chip, which was the subject of many months' debate right here on General 2095.The main Randi Educational Foundation interface with Wellded was Kramer, formerly of Butthole Surfers. Eventually negotiations broke down and Wellfed withdrew. But I digress. What Wellfed was banned for, as far as I can tell, was a series of responses in the form of questionable photos to some of his detractors here, and finally there was one photo that broke the camel's back, a photo in rather questionable taste of some bearded guy in a tutu. Some of the photos may still be in the archive, I'll have to check. Clark's demise was more or less by mutual agreement as I recall. They both had long and illustrious runs here.

He did resort to immature grade school photo replies eventually.
"Once this was all Black Plasma and Imagination" -Michael McClure
I think the word you're looking for is shill.
Without proper promotion something terrible happens. Nothing.
I don't recall Wellfed. But I do recall the drubbing Jim Austin took over his dismissal of the IC without bothering to try it. Charles Hansen and John Curl were especially harsh.
Jim Austin assumed since he had a PhD he MUST know all about quantum physics, that it couldn't possibly work. That's what happens when it gets Piled Higher and Deeper. Even Clark's buddy Dr. Gow poo-poo'd my quantum explanation. Henk and his wife got it, though. I demo'd the Chip for Curl and Crump in the Soundlab room 2005 and they both said heard it right away, but years later under some pressure Curl folded and claimed he might have been tricked. LolAfter Wellfed dropped out of the Amazing Randi Million Dollar Challenge mostly because they required ten consecutive correct guesses under very controlled blind conditions on a system of THEIR choosing.
Weirdly, a little later your humble scribe became the target of The Amazing Randi due to the "paranormal" aspect of the Intelligent Chip, but also the clever clock. One assumes The Amazing Randi had tired of going after dowsers and spoon benders. Later on he went after Michael Fremer and attempted to get him involved in a cable Million Dollar Challenge. One of Randi's goons at the "Educational Foundation" threatened to kick my ass if I came down to the Randi retreat down in the Caribbean somewhere on Randi's yacht.

All in great fun of course. :-) Jim Austin came out swinging with a SECOND diatribe against the poor little misunderstood Intelligent Chip. Wellfed coined the phrase, been Machina Dynamized. He also coined the phrase, Science Friction. Mr. Chip eventually found its way into the hands of reviewers Henk and his wife in Amsterdam I think it was, can't recall what mag they were reviewers for.

Edits: 03/12/23 03/12/23
What level f proof do you require?
If I ask for 'Beyond a Reasonable Doubt', that is quite a bit different than lower standars of proof.....
Too much is never enough
It's a complicated subject, proof and evidence, especially for audio, which is largely subjective. You might prove it in one system but not another, or for one person but not another. Besides evidence and proof should ideally come from independent sources, that's why there is the term, independent verification and validation, IV&V.Can you imagine the absurdity of having to prove the claims of a tweak manufacturer in court, "Ladies and gentlemen of the jury if this cable doesn't sound like the most transparent and undistorted cable you've ever heard you must find the defendant guilty." Or, "If you can't clearly hear the difference in sound when the fuse of this amplifier is reversed then you must find the defendant guilty."
If a manufacturer claims his product achieves 90 dB SNR do you verify it? Of course not, you assume it's correct, right?
Personally, I do my own investigation of claims, the ones I'm interested in, don't you? I don't take a manufacturer's word for it or even a reviewer's or audiophile's. Do you?
What claims specifically are you suspicious about that you would ask this question?

It would be a legal liability not to ban anyone making physical threats. Not to mention that it is such an obvious line not to cross.
If that is why I have to wonder why Geoff has not also been booted.
Not that I care one way or the other. One noisy member is easy enough to ignore.
But if that is why then it seems pretty clear that the rules are not applied to everyone.

Met him at CES/T.H.E a RMAF over the mid-2000s and even one VSAC, if I recall correctly.
He was a regular at many of the vendor rooms I frequented at shows as he was a writer for Positive Feedback.
Toobs and vinyl guy,and maybe even a horn guy as I met him in the EdgarHorn room one CES/T.H.E long ago.

Snippet: It was 1992. A friend in high-end audio had told me that I should get in touch with Clark Johnsen, since he was a good writer and might be interested in writing for Positive Feedback.
He might also be crazy. Good warning.
Clark was a good audio friend, an exceptional thinker and writer, a joyous and passionate fellow audio-voyager, one whom I'm very glad to have known and to have hosted for so many years here at the audio community that is Positive Feedback. I will really miss him.
Clark was the guy I gave the Intelligent Chip to at CES 2005 so he could take it around to anyone who would listen. The Product of the Year. Ironically the Intelligent Chip was not my product, it came from a guy in China, and distributed by golden Sound. Pretty funny, really. I guess I was the Senior Shill.Clark was also was nice enough to promote quite a few of my products back then pretty risky when they were uh, frowned upon, Brilliant Pebbles, Nimbus Sub Hertz Platform, Mr. Chip. He also promoted Peter Belt of PWB. Stereophile wound up reviewing their cream and holographic silver foil and even tried the photos in the freezer tweak, gasp! The Cream and foils made it into their Best Products list, whatever it's called. Will miracles never cease? Clark was one of the audio insiders who hung out in Crump Curl room 2000 and 2001 (where I was showing my spring based iso stuff).
