I agree with Henry H. way down below. You may prefer the Technics, but it is not a superior table. It may work better in your set up due to synergy. I don't know. I find it difficult to believe that even the most skilled table designer could voice a table to sound good on "audiophile" recordings while not sounding good on others. More than likely what you are calling "audiophile" recordings are your better recordings, and the Scout is showcasing that. It isn't going to make poor recordings sound good.
I use the Scout with the Blackbird and have no problems with tracking. If it is mistracking, I don't care who set it up or checked it, it is either still not right or your particular cartridge is defective.
As far as irritating and uninvolving, I suspect that sometimes people attribute the sound they are hearing to the wrong component. Actually, I think that happens a lot around here.
If you have been listening to these two tables for "4 years", I would think that it is clear. In your current set up, you prefer the Technics. Sell the Scout/Blackbird and move on.
