I mounted my old cartridge on it. After a week of 'regular' LP's, it seems to just get out of the way and let the music happen. I could probably live with the SOTA forever.
Also, I recently changed speakers from Polk Monitor Fours to Infinity Reference Fours for the same reason (they were cheap). I consider this a significant upgrade with tighter bass, more detailed mids, and better imaging. I am in the process of removing the tweeter protection diodes to see if a sonic artifact goes away.
