In my reply to your post headed "Au Contraire...", I responded...>>>Nor did I mention a 2A3, Lowther, et al. Certainly no argument with you there.<<<
Doesn't that indicate to you that I am in complete agreement with your assessment regarding horn et al speakers? Why do you keep trying to make an issue of my not wanting to perform tweaks on a Klipsch for whatever reasons I may have - not the least of which is that I don't have Klipschs' to begin with.
>>>have you ever applied any kind of damping compound to a turntable suspension? speaker stand? equipment rack? How about fiddlin' with bricks, blocks, sand boxes, etc, on top or under components?<<<
Nope, not my cuppa
>>>One step up is replacing the Xover parts with better quality. A little soldering of the saqme values with better quality and you are there.<<<
I wouldn't know a soldering iron from a blow torch... or a Xover from a spark plug.
I'm a newbie to SET and I did not choose to go that route because I want to play loud enough to blow other speakers away. Jose R. (in a post above) is extremely happy with his Cary/Soliloquy combination - in spite of your disdain for the dreaded "Coffin boxes." Hopefully, I will have the same experience. And no, your insistence that nothing can provide even adequate sound other than what you have recommended is not going to alter my opinion (or plans) one bit. Thanks anyway.
