Twenty-Five and 1.3mk2

My previous speakers were the Contour 1.3mk2

The midrange on the Twenty-Five is smoother and more effortless than the 1.3mk2. I don't know if that necessaraly equates to what I would personally call warmer, but perhaps that's a fair description?

It would be my guess that the Twenty-Five, due to it's more revealing/less colored nature would "sound" more like the associated electronics than the 1.3mk2. By that I mean, if you have a warm sounding amp, you'll hear more of that warm sound when you switch from the 1.3mk2 to the Twenty-Five, or vice versa...a bright sounding amp would sound bright. So I guess my opinion would be that the overall character of the Twenty-Five is actually more neutral than the 1.3mk2, or anything else I've ever owned. By neutral, I don't mean dry or cold sounding, just more revealing of whats going on upstream.

I would certainly not accuse the Twenty-Five of being harsh or cool sounding, at least not in the context of my system as a whole. If I had to describe the improvment from the 1.3mk2 to the Twenty-Five in one word, that word would be "smoother".

I personally hesitate to make in depth sonic comparisons with the Confidence 5 or 3. Reasons being, 1) It's almost 2 years since I've heard either of those models, and 2) I've never heard the C5 or 3 on equipment that [in my opinion] performs anything as well as what I own. I'm not trying to sound snobbish, but I felt that my system [with the 1.3mk2] performed better than the dealers system [with the C5]. I am 100% convinced that the C5 is/was the better speaker, by some margin, but the rest of the gear, while good, was not up to the standards of such a fine speaker, and it showed.
