Re: Dynaudio Special Twenty-Five Speakers

Hey Jimmy,

Ya, I think the Dyn's would match well with the Krell 200c. I first ran my Twenty-Five's on the Krell 250mc mono's at work [before I took them home]...sounded real good. To be fair, I should try that combo again, now that the speakers are run in.

FWIW, I think the 250mc monos are good amps, but [oddly?] I think the 200c and 300c are better sounding...you've got a nice amp!

As far as the room/speaker thing goes...the distance between the speakers and from the speakers to you is similar to my setup. The most obvious difference is the distance from the wall behind...you'd be placing your speakers 1/2 the distance from the wall. Sounds like you'd have both speakers well off the side walls [a good thing], something I have only on one side.

I'm no expert on these things, but it would seem to me that, in your room it might not be as important to keep the speakers away from the back wall because, A) You've got a larger room, and B) you'll be placing them much further away from the side walls. Makes sense to me...maybe totally off base though? As far as a speaker that has lower bass responce...I'd think that the more/lower bass your speakers do, the more difficult they're gonna be to place properly in your [or any] room.

Tough call about what will and wont work, speaker wise. I'd be real keen to have an in-home demo of any prespective purchases before the $$$ exchanged hands. Any speaker is gonna be sensitive to the rear wall...typically more so will be any rear ported or di-pole [maggie/stat] style speaker. I wish I could be of more help...

:-)
Steve
