Home Music Lane

It's all about the music, dude! Sit down, relax and listen to some tunes.

Duh....Yuh..Uh

Except that Klemperer DOESN'T take the exposition repeat.

Repeat - does NOT take the exposition repeat.

Do you think that might make any sort of little ol' difference?

Unless you're either not listening, or you're mentally impaired, there's no way that the Klemperor, Norrington, and Morris sound the same, which you're citing of timings suggests. Forgetting about the tempi and timings, the differences in phrasing and articulation, orchestral playing and sound are vastly different between the 3 conductors and orchestras you've citied. Yet, you seem to be suggesting they're all alike. How odd.

Klemp's performance on youtube's nice. It has that sound associated with him. The orchestra play's well. But, it's the very embodiment of the heaviness of which I've been speaking. As it proceeds, one has the impulse to grab a whip a strike them, exclaiming "Move! Move! Get on with it".

I have the Klemp Philharmonina recording on LP, and I'll be reporting on it in due course.
