...includes Symphonies 4 & 8. Warm, transparent mono -- the CD sounds just excellent. Listening right now...I'd describe Monteux's way here as "splashy" and "animated". The color of the instruments (winds and the lighter string sections especially) is given special emphasis. I suppose that can be considered a "French style" of conducting Beethoven. Anyway, it's certainly a "Monteux style"!:-)
