I was glad to read that you had posted to this thread. As I read through the various comments the one thing that kept coming to mind is why doesn't John Atkinson chime in here and speak for himself. Well, you did, Good!

Then, there is the climate that allows a writer/contributor to feel comfortable expressing such drivel. Elitism and white supremacy are trophies that are eroding away, and in a generation the trappings that afforded such snobbery will be distant memories. Fifties years ago such comments could have been posted on the front page of the magazine without a second thought, but we are in the 21st century. The American population has changed as has its cultural appetites.

So much of print media is losing its position due to the paradigm shift caused by digital media. The comments of Mr. Serinus are symptomatic of that shift. Dinosaurs such as Mr. Serinus have been let out to pasture in broadcast media, politics, entertainment, etc. I am not in favor of someone losing his livelihood for such, but I believe a strong rebuke is warranted.

Mr. Atkinson, I recommend that you make that rebuke,here, at The Asylum. Don't give the impression that you are sweeping an embarrassing comment under the rug. The inmates here are passionate about this hobby, and your credibility and that of your magazine are under scrutiny by those that really care.

I applaud you for editing the offensive paragraph, but that should have happened before it was published. His statements are out. Now, that the horse is out of the barn; kindly, "do the right thing" and publicly upbraid Mr. Serinus.
