you seem unable to answer OUTSIDE of your own, lone, experience in bringing up children. I am not a parent and have never had to raise a child (though I observe parents-with-children in a bookshop setting and in public transportation and in public restaurants).
i would say my take on the piano in the home is valid; you have not discussed the *status* of the piano in the home (its expense, its size, its high-ticket value). I'M NOT TALKING YOUR HOME. You can be the exception (but parents do sugarcoat the truth, too, being sensitive or insecure about proper parenting).
you also ignored the possibility (or probability) of subtle influences and indirect influences. again, as stated earlier, one doesn't have to physically 'force' a child to get the child to do something or act in a certain way. life is not so overt. as audiophiles are fond of saying regarding how a component sounds to them: YMMV [Your Mileage May Vary].
i think it is safe to say, no music education would be found in your home if your own personal interest in The Arts did not lean toward music. is this a safe conclusion to make for you?
