The music is what matters, so as long as you truly enjoy

the music, the time, effort and expense invested in the system itself becomes questionable, and I believe must level off at some point. A decent enough system that fits a budget comfortably, satisfies sufficiently and provides WHAT you want to hear may financially cost a LOT less than a megabuck system, but IF it does what you want and you're HAPPY and SATISFIED with it, well, then the actual worth and value of it is...priceless.

Being able to discern when you've reached that plateau of satisfaction is key, and it's difficult to do when thinking the next "level" is just around the corner and a few more dollars away...

I don't see anything wrong with scaling back to a more simple set-up and enjoying it. Leaves more money, time and effort to pursue finding great music to listen to and ENJOY!
