More distortion. Do you ever tell the truth. I emailed Steve about purchasing the player. He called me and no I did not beg, plead or refuse to take no for an answer. He readily and willingly offered to sell it to me. The whole transaction took minutes to complete.
The unit was burned in for a full week before serious auditioning began. The evaluation continued for another 8 days and involved 3 other people who listened indepedantly from one another. We all arrived at the same conclusion. The player stinks and that is why it was returned to Ayre. If it was any good I would have kept it.It was so bad I took a huge loss by not keeping it.
At no time during my contact with Steve did I ever display upset or anger and at no time was it explicitly or implicity communicated that I would get the last laugh. I would have never returned the unit if it sounded good. I only returned it because it SUCKED. My opinion of it is not a result of revenge or "having the last laugh". Unlike you Mr. Hansen, I have no ulterior motives in this matter and would not ever lie about the quality of a component out of childess anger or for vested interests. I could care less about you or Ayre or any other CD player. The opinions I offered about the players in the CD survey were based upon honest evaluation unaffected or influenced by anything other than their sound. Period. End of story.
