Have you ever studied or taught music? How does one teach a creative art form without bringing their views to the table? A teacher in the arts should not try to create clones, but influence is inevitable--in fact it's the reason they're there. They must keep things moving in the direction that their experience has shown them is best. And these people should stick ONLY to history and technique? Talk about antiseptic.Elliot is right. Your definition of "music" is very, very narrow; unusable for any musical professional in the real world. This is a communicative art, not a formulaic ritual.
