Windows X,
Allow me to tell en public that I must come to the conclusion this has all been a big misunderstanding, based on pure stupid coincidence. But how could we know. First off : APOLOGIES (can't get it bigger).
But what happened ?
>I think Peter is desperate too since someone claiming his player is no longer the best
No, of course not. I'm into the best music reproduction. And maybe good to know : I was the very first ever to download cics' player and responded to that in here (but couldn't get it working for this first version). Sadly, the whole thread got deleted and was reposted, so nothing visible from that anymore (but I guess cics will remember).
Also if you Google for "PeterSt" "cplay" (put in those quotes), you will see a first post about me talking about CPlay on the positive side, and you will be able to dig up a 100 like this in that forum alone. Just because there are (or were) two guys only working on such a thing explicitly. My opinion : those deserve some "praise", while all of the other stuff may be equally well, but *then* by pure coincidence.
When more come along like this, this is only good for music reproduction, and is totally unrelated to any $$ on my side or otherwise I wouldn't explicitly refer to other players (which even are free).
Having said this, nothing of the suggested sort can be in order here. Trust me. What's also not in order is that I "scoffed" cics work (that's not what you said Edward, but could be implied), but that instead I completely exactly NEVER looked into what you guys are doing on this fine project, because I don't like to copy other's stuff. I really don't, and with some digging this can (openly) be found over at Phasure somewhere. Maybe elsewhere, I don't know anymore. But still : I don't.
One can also call it ignorancy, but let's say I always worked on the pure software side of things, and rather let alone the OS stuff. Well, up to some extend because in the very end it is about that only.
On my forum people started coming up with rather unexplainable stuff at the time (could be some 8-10 months ago), and with the help of others (just like it would happen in here) it became the sort of obvious conclusion that more needed to be done towards explicit OS tweaks. And so I finally did, and in the release notes of the latest version I even referred fo cics'. So, allow me a small quote from there :
"FYI : Maybe it is obvious by now that a thing like this could have been applied 4 years ago - maybe also referring to cics' work, but while this looks similar it is really driven by the "memory requirements" (which just were not there before)"
Additionally, I completely *never* looked into what's happening around cics, which may be from some kind of respect, and is certainly not about scoffing it (which would be the opposite).
Moving on to the real subject here, these release notes are from the version up since last Feb. 21, and might you want to look into it, it describes about 100% the same as Windows X did/does from his Fidelizer. Well, it *is* the same, though the implementation will be different and results might too. Or will, I don't know. And Fidelizer is for free, don't forget that.
So what to think when within 10 days I have put up this version, another comes along just doing the same ? But coincidence exists I guess, and this will be one of them.
Still it is NOT coincidence that people started to work on things like this. I mean, many has been talked trough, the list of services involved were on my forum, and why wouldn't anyone dive into these matters, after I said myself I would (for the then next version). Or, why wouldn't it be so that someone had been working on such a thing (Windows X) for even longer, me not doing it yet, just lacking that list which was put up by another forum member. Or, how will things have gone when I set myself (only me this time) to the list of LAN services, *that* list coincidentally not being on the forum (with the clear suggestion to sort it out - and which I did), and to next find a first Fidalizer version just that LAN services lacking (to keep).
Additionally, what to think about Marcin who went along on a kind of his own track, but coorporating with (or helping) Windows X to some extend, Marcin a little connected to JP maybe.
Finally, looking at the relation Windows X brings to Marcin, suggesting that Marcin caused that I banned Windows X. Well, nothing of the kind happened, and after talking to Marcin, it can only be my conclusion that all *IS* a stupid coincidence, adding that I believe Windows X never even read those release notes I referred to (which is what he told me this morning, and I believe that).
I think the point is : something became clear, and suddenly all heads for a same direction. Sound improvement is obvious, so a few saw the light and that includes me.
I hope that nobody got offended from this post or my english, and certainly the latter can make that happen easily. But, not intended at all.
Windows X, of course you were offended, but again, my apologies;
Whether you want to be back in I don't know, but if all is right your ban has gone.
Cheers to you all,
Peter
PS: Windows X, where your idea came from about Marcin, remains unclear. But similary I have no clue where you got the "didn't sell well" about the NOS1. Maybe we all start to see ghosts in such a situation.
