Thanks for that great explanation. I do want to try your LV design at some point.

Question... how critical is the collection of components you use? For example, if I substituted other caps in similar values for the filtering caps, will that reduce the supply's effectiveness a lot? Ditto with the power transformer... anything special about the Triad's you specify or would similar transformers do about the same?
