While I am very pleased with Tidal HiFi and their "CD quality" streaming, I have to admit that my ripped music files played from my Mac SSD or my Synologoy NAS sound slightly better to me, or I should say it's more to my liking. The difference is just that, slightly different. Both sound excellent but my preference leans toward my own ripped music. To my ears my ripped CD files sound slightly more robust or full bodied compared to a leaner sound from Tidal HiFi. But unless I'm listening for the differences I don't notice it while enjoying music on random play. Most of my files are ripped uncompressed AIFF or Apple Lossless ALAC (very similar to FLAC).
To level the playing field somewhat I play Tidal HiFi and my ripped CD music files via Roon. I have not tried Qobuz.
