No actually the "myth" as you call it is simply proper data analysis. Speculating about something not appearing in the data would no longer be acceptable science.

Until one has actually run through the "offensive tedious repetition" of making the necessary data captures, how would one even know if the effect is even capture-able in their system? It's only at the end after seeing the results does one realize what a jerk he's been by wasting time doing all that testing.

Until symptoms of the effect are captured only speculation about it's existence and character can occur. Unfortunately all we ever see here are plots by those who haven't captured differences. The posters who make the claims differences are real never seem to post any supporting evidence that I've seen.

It seems a pretty clear case of Russell's Teapot to me. I'll probably spend the time to verify the teapot isn't hovering directly in my line of sight after all the forum hubbub but other than that I have more important things to do than try to find it if I don't already see it.
