I also have 604-8Gs in 620 cabs. They were way too bright for me, too, using tubed preamp and 300B amps. What I did was rotate the cabinets 180 degrees, and had the speaker at the bottom of the cabinet on a carpeted floor. Made them MUCH more listenable and certainly tolerable.I used them this way for several years, until I was SURE I wanted to continue down the low-powered SET path. Then I bought Bastanis Prometheus II speakers. Wow. Altogether different league.
