I have my 2.5's in a room 18.5 x 18.5 x 11 ft. Yep, the dreaded square room ... For placement I use the Cardas Method. Despite the room's shortcomings, the sound stage fills it, then some. Imaging is detailed and precise. For exampleI listen to a lot of John Hiatt. On hisStolen Moments LP, he does a couple of duets with Ashley Cleveland. They are both using the same mike, sometimes alternating, sometimes together. You can feel/hear them moving towards and away from the mike. When both singing together, they are very close and you can measure the distance they are apart.
Now, Hiatt's LP's are not the best recorded/produced in the world, they are OK, but nothing remarkable. I own UK 1st pressings of a few of his LPs, which helps.
The point I want to make, is that with careful placement the 2.5's can image your socks off, even in a less than desirable room.
Cheers Brian
