Sure, around $300 is probably a reasonable limit to spend on a cartridge for that table. The Grado does tend to have some nice mid bass warmth and a sweet midrange and is not overly low bass heavy. The detail is there but not overly accented. I can't say about the current Shure's but while clear, I wouldn't think of Shure for intimacy and presence. The Ortofon ML.25 is in that range and I prefer it to the Grado as more neutral with better bass extension along with more air. There's lots of choices, unfortunately, but didn't they say that vinyl was dead? Not yet.
