The balance is restored by adding mass of the tape to the CD, which moves the total mass toward the outer edge of the disc. The viscoelastic tape also prevents the disc from vibrating and fluttering whilst spinning. And by ensuring the CD is level during play, since the out of round condition is exacerbated when the CD is not absolutely level whilst spinning.I assume you guys aren't quite up to speed on the moment of inertia of a spinning body.
