CD tweak DIY

One problem with CDs is that they are often out of round, which makes them flutter while spinning. Being out of level while spring exacerbates this problem. Absolute level of the disc is often not straightforward since the player case is usually not the same level as the spinning disc. The result is that the nanoscale laser beam cannot stay on the nanoscale data spiral, even with the assistance of the laser tracking feedback system.

So, the fix to this dilemma is to apply three strips of 3M black electrical tape, I prefer Super 88. Cut off strip 1.5" long and cut that strip in half length wise. You will need to apply three of these half width strips to the label side of the CD, in the radial direction, like spokes of a tire. Also try to ensure absolute level of disc while spinning.
