What is the advantage...

...of replacing the top plate with a non-metallic material?

I do understand why replacing a steel plate with non-ferrous would make a difference.

Since the top plate is grounded to the chassis via the mounting bolt (assuming a metal bolt), I'd tend to think a non-ferrous metal top plate would provide at least a small degree of RF shielding. Is this incorrect?

I'm finding this a very interesting topic since there seems to be the potential for some good sonic benefits and the topic also seems to be relatively unexplored compared to a lot of tweaks.
