hey jeff- you can actually get a reasonably adequate new turntable for less than 200 bux, at least quite good enough for playing lp's you can find at yard sales, gemm.com, ebay and elsewhere for sometimes next to nothing.in fact as far as that goes, i've got an old technics manual table stashed away in the closet in its original carton. if you want to pay the cost for me to ship it to you, it's yours. i used it quite a bit but yet works fine except it needs a new belt and cart. you could probably get a belt for 10-15 bux or less, and a decent enough cart for maybe 35-50 if not less also, if ya shop around. lemme know.
