Home Music Lane

It's all about the music, dude! Sit down, relax and listen to some tunes.

I've learned my lesson this time....

I will never be a BELLIGERENT VINYL FANATIC again. (snicker, snicker)
Hey, if you can find this one (Strictly Instrumental) on vinyl, get it. I would if I could.

God, I hate to be reasonable about this, but the fact is that anyone who loves music and does not want his choices limited needs to have both cd and vinyl. There are lots of great albums on cd only, and I don't want to miss out on them, even if my OPINION is that this is an inferior format.

Many digital only music lovers are missing out on half a century of great music, a great deal of which is not, and never will be, digitated. Decisions on what old recordings to transfer to digital are driven by marketing, not music.

Forget (for a moment-I won't let you forget for long...) the question of which format sounds better. Lurk for a while over in the Vinyl Asylum (we don't bite), and skip over all the equipment posts. Just look at some of the music people are listening to. Now hop over to Amazon and try to find it on cd. You will find much of it, but a lot of it--some of the best music--you will NOT find and you will never hear without a turntable. Digital only people are missing out, just as I would be missing out if I was vinyl only.

I mean, for all the food fights about sound quality, it is the music that matters...isn't that what we always claim?

Now, was that BELLIGERENT? Not even smartass-sarcastic! (God...it's killing me...)
