good god, no! if you're looking for bluegrass banjo, avoid bela fleck like the plague. that guy ruined one of my favorite bands, new grass revival (any of their earlier albums with courtney johnson, and curtis burch on guitar, are highly suggested by me, though).whatever fleck thinks he's doing, it ends up sounding like somekinda really bad psychedelic interpretation of lithuanian folk music by mannheim steamroller, or something equally hideous...
dunno if they're on cd, but a sorta supergroup called country gazette
made some mighty good records in the early-mid '70's which feature banjo prominently.then, there's always doug dillard.
