Thanks, Clark, for the suggestion. Your enthusiasm makes me think that maybe it's time to look into this.
I'm still slightly traumatised, though, by the experience of wrecking an original UK HMV-labelled 78 of I Beg of You/Don't (generously given to me by a friend's dad) by putting it in suitcase-full of LPs heading for India by boat (okay, okay, but I was only 12 at the time!)
But apart from the the 'authenticity', tactility, etc factors, how does the sound really compare? What turntable do you use? A Rega?
