Why I archive my music files to spinning disks...

An NEMP attack or naturally occuring severe CME is at least as likely as the Covid pandemic in the next two decades. If either happens, likely say goodbye to all your data on SSDs or in other RAM chips.

We got lucky and just missed a very severe CME around 2012. Severe enough it could have wiped all our SSDs...

You've been warned...

by the way, it was around 2008 that I attended a "think tank" retreat for my job. Attendees were asked to predict risks within the next decades to the organization I worked for.

I wrote "Pandemic" on the white board. Some of my colleagues thought I was being paranoid :)
