let's see...let me count the ways you can't count on luck
year 1976 - a fire in my Moms house destroyed almost every record. I only have 5 left and they have a little bit of damage on the lead in groove from the heat
year 2012 - Hurricane Sandy came through with only some damage from minor flooding in the basement and I lost about 20 records - too close to the floor
year 2021 - Storm Ida came through and the basement flooded big time and took out about half of my albums. Covers ended up with mold and very few of the vinyl was savable. My house power didn't go out, there was just too much rain coming down at once and it overpowered the 2 sump pumps. The people around here had anywhere from 1 to 6 feet in the basement
Cut-throat has an excellent point, so at least take him seriously and think more than twice! Smoke damage from a fire, even a small one, will get...EVERYWHERE
