No, this was only speaker level switching, done by an amplifier company called QSC in the late 80's maybe early 90's.
After listening to a number of tracks, there were a couple parts where there were differences that were repeatable.
Those clips where the musical track that was then played for testing.
There were two different amplifier sounds and it didn't make sense.
All the amplifiers sounded similar enough so that they were "the same"...except for this.
It was on the decay part of some transients where there was a difference one could reliably detect, something like the sound decayed normally but and sort of abruptly stopped (and this at a very low level)
A couple other amplifiers like the Threshold Stasis, one called a Chevin and a qsc pl236 were different. It was more like the decay or tail just got smaller and smaller without the low level change.
